M2 Television Design  

Soho, London

June 1998

While at Croydon College I participated in work experience, this was spent at M2 Television design in Soho where I worked on creating storyboards for titles to television programs.

  • Created and designed storyboards for titles to television programs.
  • Programs that storyboards were designed for include The Richard Blackwood Show, Alistar McGowan's Big Impressions and Channel Four Racing.

Progressive Media Group, London

August 2005 - Present

Progressive Media Group are a publishing company with over 30 titles in their portfolio. These range from Architecture and Interior Design titles such as Blueprint and FX magazines, through to Automotive titles which include BusinessCar and What Van?. They have also recently acquired The New Statesman.

My job as Web Designer is to oversee the transition of the magazines to the web. I work alongside developers to create sites for FX, idFX and fmx magazine from my initial designs. I have also overseen the building of websites for Packaging Today and Converting Today using a backend CMS system to build the site. I have created Flash animation adverts for these sites also.

I am responsible for the design and build of the email newsletters for the magazine titles, designing them to have a visual impact on the user and to fit in with the style of the website.

More recently I have been involved with the building of templates to house digital versions of the magazines using Iframes.

This is a small Web Design and Development company based in Worcestershire. My job entails following a site through the complete design process from initial concepts to publishing onto the Web. My time at this company has given me the opportunity to learn and fully understand Web Site Optimisation which I am now confident about the correct ways to optimise a website. I have also learnt how to design sites using CSS.

Freelance Web Designer

 

 

March 2002 – September 2003

Working from home as a freelance web designer and in my free time worked on a personal project called socceritis.com the aim of which is to provide a portal soccer site which will in time feature every football club from around the world. The International Association of Web Masters and Designers awarded a Golden Web Award to  the site. The site was also featured in Four Four Two magazine (March 2003) and in the Daily Mirror (28th February 2003).

Nov 1999 – March 2002

This is a small new media and web design company employing around twelve people. Websites were designed and built for major companies new to the 'web experience’.

My job entailed following a site through the complete design process, I would work on the initial concept and then build up the idea using Fireworks, Photoshop and Dreamweaver. When the design was finalised I would build the site in Dreamweaver and using FTP publish onto the web.

My other responsibilities have also been to deal with clients over the designs of their site, taking information on changes to their sites over the phone and meeting with the clients to explain my designs and ideas with them over my work.

Freelance Photographer

 

 

September 2003 - Present

I have had my photographs published in my local newspaper, ‘Kidderminster Shuttle’. I have been able to cover various sporting events including Hockey, Athletics, Shooting and also following the fortunes of Non-League football side, Stourport Swifts. I have also been able to follow the team I support, Kidderminster Harriers, where I took photos for the club on match days.
